Dr. Barry Vaughan joined NESC as a policy analyst in May 2009. He has an interest in the areas of regulation and public sector reform. Prior to joining NESC, he lectured at the Institute of Public Administration for 9 years on subjects ranging from criminal justice to public management and social policy. He obtained a PhD in Sociology from Warwick in 1998 and has co-authored two books, Crime, Punishment and the Search for Order in Ireland (2004) and Terrorism, Rights and the Rule of Law (2008) as well as numerous articles in international journals and various research reports. He is currently on secondment to the Department of the Taoiseach.
