Agriculture, Climate Change and Water
A critical element in consideration of Ireland’s transition to a sustainable economy and society is analysis of action, challenges and possibilities in agriculture. This work will outline and analyse the many parallel developments in Ireland’s approach to sustainable agriculture in recent years, with a particularly initial focus on dairy and its impact on GHG emissions and water quality. It will document initiatives in Irish food firms and on farms, including sustainability programmes; policy developments including FoodWise 2025 and Origin Green and associated audits at farm and firm level; and Teagasc and EPA research.
